See And Do Inverell

Inverell is known as the” Sapphire City” for its rich history of gemstone finds and to this day brings many people to the region trying their luck fossicking around the area either on their own or by visiting one of the Fossicking parks where you will get expert tuition on how to find your own beautiful gem or just have a lot of fun while learning the art.

There is a fabulous Transport Museum with vehicles from yesteryear that will spark a little nostalgia in us all. A must to see while visiting Inverell.

The area has several working wineries, and an Olive Farm with tasting being the order of the day if you are keen to taste some really good wines and olive products from the New England region.

If you love fishing you will love the rivers and dams around Inverell, BIG Murray Cod and the famous Yellow Belly are nearly always on the bite. You don’t need a boat, fishing from the banks of the McIntyre is the perfect way while away an afternoon or even a whole weekend.

Copeton Dam is another favourite fishing spot but you don’t need to go fishing to enjoy the drive around the Dam and see the engineering of the Dam Wall and the sheer size of the Dam, another must see.

Don't forget to just walk around town, meet the locals, have a drink at one of the great local country pubs and check out some of the early architecture evident in some of the town buildings.
